José Manuel Díaz Pino and his Art
Jose Manuel has worked with metal, wood, engineered stone, metal alloys, stainless steel, carbon steel, cast iron, corten steel and other innovative materials. His sculptures focus on twisting, embossing, forging to achieve the final work of art.
He began working with metal at the age of 15 as a welder alongside his father, and in 2000, together with his brothers, he founded a business in the center of Algeciras, designing and creating handcrafted furniture. He developed his creativity by sketching and creating unique furniture. This allowed him to connect with iron and steel in their different forms, discovering in a pragmatic yet sensitive way the secrets of the techniques behind his work. In 2014, he created his first commissioned sculpture, and from there, his calling as a sculptor began.
In his work he suspends the figures in a type of void, helical and incomplete symmetries that rotate around an imaginary axis. A sinuous fragmentation that fluctuates in space, constantly modifying the structure. A dreamlike interpretation of nature due to its weighty fragility and delicate arrangement in a harmonious balance. The works touch on figurative and abstract themes.
Jose Manuel has participated in various exhibitions, including a piece that made the final phase of the selections at the International Sculpture Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary (Seville). First Prize in 2019 at the 46th International Art Exhibition in Gibraltar, awarded by British sculptor Stephen Cox, and another First Prize at the Biomedical Research Institute of Salamanca in 2021. In 2025, the Museo del Mar del Ebro acquired his work "Geometric Disparity" for its collection.
