The work of Juanfran Melgar de la Puente represents a sophisticated intersection of mystical memory, architectural structure, and material abstraction. His career is marked by an organic evolution that moves from the technical capture of light to the depth of contemporary art. Training and Photographic Vision: He began his technical training at the Center for Photography Studies (CEF) in the 1990s, then sponsored by Kodak, and later consolidated his vision at the Center for Image, under the tutelage of Roberto Huarcaya.
This foundational stage, focused on architectural photography, allowed him to develop a keen sensitivity to composition and spatial order. For years, he worked as a photographer for the newspaper El Comercio and collaborated with the most important publications in Peru and Latin America, specializing in portraiture, fashion, and architecture.
Management and Space: His commitment to the cultural ecosystem led him to found Galería magazine, a fundamental platform for promoting Peruvian talent in art, photography, and fashion. Later, she created Artística, a pioneering project that integrated large-format photography with avant-garde architecture, transforming spaces with urban landscapes and geometric abstractions from various cities around the world. This exploration of volume later led to the founding of her own interior design studio and handcrafted furniture workshop, with over 50 completed projects that explore the dialogue between signature design, local techniques, and contemporary art.
Artistic Evolution and International Projection: After completing a Master's degree in Design in Barcelona, her artistic practice shifted definitively towards painting, specializing in abstract surrealism in Seville. Her current work distills decades of experience observing light and space and exploring the mind, transforming them into a meditative and contemporary pictorial language full of textures that reflect her more than 25 years of practicing deep meditation techniques and studying the relationship between human beings and their minds.
Exhibitions and Awards: His work has been exhibited in three solo exhibitions at the Indigo Gallery in Lima and one in Mallorca, as well as in various group exhibitions in Lima, and at internationally renowned fairs and platforms such as Lima Photo and Núcleo Arte Contemporáneo at the Origen Gallery in Madrid. Recently, his work has gained significant visibility in public spaces through the project "The Jungle of Art" on the screens of the iconic Callao cinemas on Gran Vía (Madrid), a group exhibition at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice and in Buenos Aires, and he has been invited to exhibit a solo show at the Embassy of Peru in France.
Currently, his work is part of important private collections, and he continues to explore the enduring relevance of ancestral mystical themes through a contemporary, avant-garde aesthetic.

La obra de Juanfran Melgar de la Puente representa una intersección sofisticada entre la memoria mística, la estructura arquitectónica y la abstracción matérica. Su trayectoria está marcada por una evolución orgánica que transita desde la captura técnica de la luz hacia la profundidad de la plástica contemporánea.Formación y mirada fotográfica: Inició su formación técnica en el Centro de Estudios de la Fotografía (CEF) en los años 90, entonces auspiciado por la empresa Kodak, para luego consolidar su mirada en el Centro de la Imagen, bajo la tutela del maestro Roberto Huarcaya.
Esta etapa fundacional, centrada en la fotografía de arquitectura, le permitió desarrollar una aguda sensibilidad por la composición y el orden espacial. Durante años, ejerció como fotógrafo en el diario El Comercio y colaboró con las cabeceras editoriales más relevantes de Perú y Latinoamérica, especializándose en retrato, moda y arquitectura.
Gestión y espacio: Su compromiso con el ecosistema cultural le llevó a fundar la revista Galería, una plataforma fundamental para la promoción del talento peruano en arte, fotografía y moda. Posteriormente, creó Artística, un proyecto pionero donde integró la fotografía de gran formato con la arquitectura de vanguardia, interviniendo espacios con paisajes urbanos y abstracciones geométricas de distintas ciudades del mundo. Esta exploración del volumen se tradujo más tarde en la fundación de su propio estudio de diseño interior y taller de mobiliario artesanal, con más de 50 proyectos ejecutados que dialogan entre el diseño de autor, la técnica local y el arte contemporáneo.
Evolución Plástica y Proyección Internacional: Tras cursar un Máster en Diseño en Barcelona, su práctica artística se desplazó definitivamente hacia la pintura, especializándose en la técnica de surrealismo abstracto en Sevilla. Su producción actual destila décadas de experiencia observando la luz y el espacio y la exploración de la mente, transformándolas en un lenguaje pictórico de carácter meditativo y contemporáneo lleno de texturas que representan sus más de 25 años practicando técnicas de meditación profunda y estudiando la relación del ser humano con su mente.
Exposiciones y Reconocimientos: Su trabajo ha sido exhibido en tres exposiciones individuales en la Galería Indigo en Lima y una en Mallorca, así como en diversas exposiciones colectivas en Lima, ferias y plataformas de relevancia internacional como Lima Photo y Núcleo Arte Contemporáneo en la galería Origen en Madrid. Recientemente, su obra ha alcanzado una notable visibilidad en el espacio público a través del proyecto La Jungla del Arte en las pantallas de los emblemáticos cines Callao en la Gran Vía (Madrid), una exposición colectiva en la Scuola Internazionale di Grafica en Venecia y en Buenos Aires, y ha sido invitado a exhibir una muestra individual en la Embajada de Perú en Francia.
Actualmente, su obra forma parte de importantes colecciones privadas y continúa explorando la vigencia de los temas místicos ancestrales desde una estética contemporánea de vanguardia.
